On 11 September 2020, the representatives of the Park of Coastal Dunes met the producers and stakeholders involved in the pasture sector in the areas of the Park and of the municipalities of Ostuni and Fasano.
The meeting, which took place at the Albergabici, Visit Centre of the Park, is part of the activities of LASPEH project and refers, particularly, to Action A2C, which aims to encourage and promote free-range pastures and support the conservation of the habitat "Pseudo-steppe paths of grasses and annuals of Thero-Brachypodietea"
As a matter of fact, one of the main aims of the project, is to safeguard the pseudo-steppe habitats of the Park of Coastal Dunes, preserving the delicate balance with the present economic activities, including the pastures, thanks to awareness events involving local operators and community.
The importance of acknowledging the characteristics of the habitats present in the Park, the economic activities linked to those areas (such as pastures) and the properties of consumer products (such as the yellow milk) with the subsequent benefits for the whole sector, are all fundamental elements in order to reach a good level of awareness about the man-nature-production relationship gravitating around the protected area of the Park.
This "community path" involves also those companies who are indirectly linked to the pasture conservation and thus the habitat preservation, such as restaurateurs, category associations, diaries and tourist service companies.
