The first cycle of autumn meetings devoted to LASPEH project started in the Park of Coastal Dunes, with the involvement of several schools and pupils.
On 15 and 22 November 2019, the Park of Coastal Dunes hosted the students of “Circolo Didattico Giovanni XXIII” school of Ostuni (Grade 3 and 5) in the wetland and fossil dunes area.
The Director of the Park Angela Milone, together with the technical project experts and the fishermen of Morelli River Eliseo and Gianfranco Gallo, conducted the children to the discovery of the delicate habitats of the Park, deepening the pseudo-steppe environments and the wild grazing within the Park, which guarantee the safeguard of the territory, preserve ancient traditions, keep endangered species alive and create unique and great tasting products.
Awareness campaigns are one of the activities foreseen by LASPEH project in order to raise awareness also among children, sharing the elements characterizing the territory and its fragilities, accompanying them in a growth path, which will make them more aware and attentive citizens, contributing to a positive changing towards more sustainable habits.
LASPEH Project, funded by the Interreg IPA CBC Italy-Albania-Montenegro Programme under the Priority Axis 3 (Environment protection, risk management and low carbon strategy), will implement a network of organizations cooperating for a better management of priority species in Natura 2000 sites, exchanging their best practices and developing a transnational common strategy to preserve common habitats and species.
